Detroit Prepares to Ring In the New Year

New Year’s Eve celebrations will look vastly different this holiday season. With social distancing orders still in effect, restaurants, bars, and nightclubs are banned from holding their traditional ball dropping events. Despite COVID, Detroit is yet gearing up to welcome 2021. Detroit Restaurants are offering high-end take-home options complete with customary champagne to ring in the new year.

The Apparatus Room, located in the Detroit Foundation Hotel, offers a special menu for the new year. Available for takeout, the menu includes filets, shrimp and crab bisque, and, for an extra charge, champagne and caviar. Patrons are encouraged to order early via phone or email at mweirich@detroitfoundationhotel.com.

Also offering a New Year’s Eve spread is Midtown’s Grey Ghost. Offering items such as build-a-burger kits, cheese fondue, and deviled eggs. Serving as a one-stop-shop, the bar is also providing cocktail and Bloody Mary kits. All items are to-go and must be scheduled for curbside pick up by December 30 between 2 p.m. and 6 p.m. Visitors can place orders https://nye-ghost-to-go.square.site.

Oak and Reel, a contemporary Italian restaurant in Detroit’s Milwaukee Junction neighborhood, offers meals to feed up to six. Guests can choose from Lobster Thermidor, Black Truffle Potato Salad, and shrimp cocktail. Oak and Reel are also offering champagne and additional a la carte options on their site https://www.oakandreel.com/provisions/New-Years-Eve-Holiday-Dinner-p264692454. Dinners can be picked up curbside on December 30 or December 31.
