Walker-Miller Energy Services has named longtime Detroit civic and community affairs leader Stacie Clayton as its new Senior Director of Executive Affairs & External Relations.
In the newly created role, Clayton will work closely with Walker-Miller Founder and CEO Carla Walker-Miller, helping manage relationships across business, government and the community while supporting priorities within the Office of the CEO. Her work will include engagement with clients, policymakers, industry partners and community stakeholders.
“We are excited to welcome Stacie to Walker-Miller,” Walker-Miller said. “She is a self-motivated leader whose ability to cultivate authentic relationships and navigate complex stakeholder environments makes her an excellent addition to our leadership team.”
Clayton will also represent the CEO in select external settings and build relationships with local, state and federal stakeholders. The position comes as Walker-Miller continues to expand its work in clean energy and energy equity.
Clayton brings more than 30 years of experience across government, higher education, nonprofits and the private sector. Her background includes executive advising, government and community relations, policy strategy and coalition building.
Most recently, she served as Regional Relations Director and Director of Community Affairs at Wayne State University. Her career has also included work with the Michigan Governor’s Office of Urban Initiatives, Detroit Renewable Energy, Detroit City Council, the Detroit Super Bowl XL Host Committee and the City of Detroit Mayor’s Office.
For Clayton, the move brings together much of the work that has defined her career.
“Throughout my career, I have been passionate about building meaningful relationships that create lasting impact,” Clayton said. “Joining Walker-Miller Energy Services allows me to contribute to a company whose mission of empowering people and enriching communities aligns deeply with my own values.”
She said she looks forward to working with Walker-Miller and the company’s team to strengthen partnerships and support efforts that make clean energy more accessible.
A lifelong Detroiter, Clayton earned both a Master of Business Administration and a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science from Wayne State University. She also remains active with several civic and community organizations across Southeast Michigan.
