Supreme Court Rejects Gay Marriage Appeals From 5 States

marriagejpg According to reports the Supreme Court has rejected appeals from five states petitioning to prohibit same-sex marriages, causing an immediate expansion of gay and lesbian unions.
The court’s order immediately ends delays on marriage in Indiana, Oklahoma, Utah, Virginia and Wisconsin. Couples in six other states — Colorado, Kansas, North Carolina, South Carolina, West Virginia and Wyoming — should be able to get married in short order. Those states would be bound by the same appellate rulings that were put on hold pending the Supreme Court’s review.
That would make same-sex marriage legal in 30 states and the District of Columbia.
The justices did not make a comment on appeals cases pending in circuit court for Michigan, Kentucky and Ohio.
