Detroit Mayor Mike Duggan’s should be removed from the mayoral race on the primary ballot — that’s at least what progressive mayoral candidate Anonthy Adams believes, WDIV reported.

The request to have Duggan’s name removed from the primary ballot for the race was filed by his opponent Adams “over a campaign disclosure dating back to 2018” according to the article.

Numerous people running for office have staff members review their opponent’s paperwork information for anything that might get them removed from the ballot, per the article.

A spokeswoman from Adams’ campaign camp confirmed in the story he filed a challenge to the mayor’s eligibility on Monday.

“Duggan didn’t file his paperwork properly to get on the ballot, according to his opponent,” per the story.

Adams, former Detroit Mayor Kwame Kilpatrick’s deputy mayor, is known for his often polar-opposition platform to Duggan.

“I am very confident that he will be removed from the ballot,” said Adams.
