San Morello at Shinola Hotel will bring its Festa di San Gennaro back to downtown Detroit on Saturday, Sept. 19, offering an evening of Italian-American food, drinks and entertainment inspired by the longtime New York City tradition.

The second annual celebration will run from 4 to 9 p.m., taking over San Morello’s dining room and outdoor patio along Woodward Avenue.

Chefs Andrew Carmellini and Ramon Amaut will be joined by several local chefs, including Cory Barberio of Angelo’s Fine Italian, Jared Gadbaw of Oak & Reel, Dean Nole of Cafe CaNole, and John Vermiglio and Joe Giacomino of Grey Ghost.

Guests will be able to sample made-to-order takes on Italian-American street festival favorites from food stations throughout the event. The menu will include dishes such as cacio e pepe, spiedini, meatballs and porchetta, along with desserts including cannoli and zeppole.

Cocktails, beer, wine and nonalcoholic drinks will also be available, while live music and entertainment will help bring the feel of New York’s historic San Gennaro celebration to downtown Detroit.
