A second public meeting on the I-75 cap feasibility study is set for Tuesday evening at the MSU Detroit Center in Midtown.
MDOT, the city of Detroit and the Downtown Detroit Partnership in October discussed future plans for the I-75 cap proposal downtown at the first public meeting. Planners say the effort to do so would better connect downtown to Midtown.
The Downtown Detroit Partnership will lead the meeting, from 6pm-7:30pm, sharing progress on the ongoing community input and design implementation considerations for the proposed park caps.
The meeting will be held at the MSU Detroit Center, 3408 Woodward Ave. The event is free and open to the public. Light refreshments and validated parking will be provided.
The feasibility study phase began with community engagement in October 2025 and will continue through June 2026. Planners will focus on evaluating transportation, technical and environmental design elements.
Transportation planning and infrastructure firm AECOM, is leading the study.
At the Feb. 24 meeting, the public will hear an update on the cap transportation and engineering design as well as an opportunity to share their memories and memorabilia through a storytelling booth to help the project commemorate the rich history, inform community priorities, and guide upcoming public space design work.

During the 2024-25 I-75 Cap Vision and Alternatives Analysis phase, residents helped select a preferred park cap concept design for further study based on its potential to reconnect neighborhoods and support long-term economic and social benefits for Detroit residents, businesses and visitors.
