NBA Player Kyrie Irving Declines COVID-19 Vaccine, Loses Job

Brooklyn Nets’ Kyrie Irving is no longer playing basketball after refusing the COVID-19 vaccine, ESSENCE Magazine reported.

“Kyrie has made a personal choice, and we respect his individual right to choose,” said General Manager Sean Marks in the ESSENCE Magazine.

Irving went on Instagram Live recently and posted about his stance against the vaccine, the repercussions of not taking it (including a pay cut) and more.

The Brooklyn Nets are not allowing Irving to play or practice with his team because of it, and Marks gave a statement on behalf of the organization on the matter.

“Given the evolving nature of the situation and after thorough deliberation, we have decided Kyrie Irving will not play or practice with the team until he is eligible to be a full participant,” said Marks in the article.
