Mike Epps Restaurant and Bar Opened for Business June 18 – at 1331 Broadway

Comedian Mike Epps to open One Mike Detroit, a new venue, a $1.5 million property – the former Punch Bowl Social space at 1331 Broadway St.

The former Punch Bowl Social space is within walking distance to Greektown, Comerica Park and other destinations – perfect location for a night of adventure to explore the heart of the city.

One Mike Detroit will host stand-up comedy, live music and other entertainment, and will also have a restaurant and an upper lounge featuring Black-owned wine and spirit brands.

The restaurant ‘Owee it is’ and bar space ‘Day Day’s’ officially opened Sunday June 18.

One Mike comedy club continues to see renovations with plans for a grand opening in September of this year. Epps’ One Mike club would be the second new downtown comedy venue within the past year. The first: The Detroit House of Comedy, a 400-seat club in the former City Theatre at Hockeytown Cafe, opened in June.

Detroit has long been one of the strongest markets for the 52-year-old comic and actor, an Indianapolis native who broke big at the turn of the 2000s via appearances on “Def Comedy Jam” and in films alongside Ice Cube and others.

Epps went on to become a top live performer while crossing over into the hip-hop world, including a 2011 sampled appearance on the Detroit project Bad Meets Evil featuring Eminem and Royce 5’9”.

Alongside stand-up comedian Mike Epps, Detroit’s Rev. Horace Sheffield, III is a co-owner of One Mike Detroit and the managing team is made up of local folks as well.

The multi-faceted venue is set out to become on of Detroit’s newest restaurant/bar attraction – this in turn adds to the hustle and bustle of the city’s ever-growing downtown.
