Michigan Lt. Gov. Gilchrist Has COVID-19

Michigan Lt. Gov. Garlin Gilchrist recently announced on Sunday that he tested positive for COVID-19, the Detroit Free Press reported.

Gilchrist made the announcement in a video he put on Twitter and used the information as a reminder for residents to keep an eye out for one another.

“Today, I tested positive for COVID-19. I currently have no symptoms, and I’m grateful that being vaccinated protects against serious illness,” he said in the video. “I encourage everyone to keep doing all they can to keep each other safe.”

Gilchrist’s positive test comes on the heels of Gov. Gretchen Whitmer’S own close contact with COVID-19 recently causing her to go into isolation after her husband, Marc Mallory, tested positive for COVID-19. She later tested negative.

Gilchrist, 39, is a husband and father of three, and one of the latest to test positive for the virus that is sending hospitals and urgent into overdrive in dealing with the virus and testing for it.
