Co-Founders Cimone Casson and Dr. Philip Hickman Introduce Innovative Athlete Development Ecosystem with Support from Former NFL Star Eugene Monroe
Draft Ready Detroit, an innovative athlete development initiative designed to prepare student-athletes for success beyond the game, officially launches its pilot program in partnership with Detroit Public Schools Community District (DPSCD).
Founded by Cimone Casson, Co-Founder & Chief Economic Opportunity Officer, and Dr. Philip Hickman, Co-Founder & Chief Innovation Architect, Draft Ready is creating the infrastructure that helps athletes transform talent into opportunity, opportunity into leadership, and leadership into ownership.
The pilot program will serve a select cohort of Detroit student-athletes, providing access to leadership development, workforce readiness, entrepreneurship education, financial literacy, NIL preparedness, mentorship, and career pathways powered by technology and real-world industry relationships.
“Today’s athletes need more than exposure—they need an ecosystem,” said Casson. “The sports landscape has changed dramatically. NIL opportunities, personal branding, entrepreneurship, technology, and workforce development are now part of an athlete’s journey. Draft Ready is building the bridge between athletic talent and lifelong opportunity.”
At the center of the initiative is a technology-driven platform developed under the leadership of Dr. Hickman, a nationally recognized education and workforce innovation leader.
“We are preparing athletes for careers, leadership, and economic mobility,” said Hickman. “Our goal is to ensure every athlete has access to the relationships, resources, and opportunities necessary to thrive in the New Sports Economy.”
Joining the initiative is former NFL veteran and athlete advocate Eugene Monroe, whose commitment to athlete empowerment and long-term success aligns with Draft Ready’s mission to prepare young athletes for opportunities beyond competition.
“Student-athletes deserve access to opportunities that extend far beyond the field,” said Monroe. “Draft Ready is creating a model that helps athletes understand their value, leverage their platforms, and build meaningful futures for themselves and their communities.”
