Under the bright lights of Little Caesars Arena, the Detroit Pistons are turning game night into a powerful celebration of culture, legacy, and education. On Friday, February 7, the Pistons will honor the profound impact of Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs) and the National Pan-Hellenic Council (NPHC) with a night filled with music, tradition, and community engagement all set against the backdrop of an electrifying showdown with the Philadelphia 76ers.

HBCU & NPHC Night, supported by Huntington Bank, will transform the arena into “The Yard,” a vibrant tribute to Black excellence, culture, and education. The event will feature a College Fair presented by Verizon, powerful musical performances, and a dynamic halftime show honoring the legacy of HBCUs and Divine 9 Greek organizations.

Kicking off the celebration, a College Fair will be held from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., offering students the opportunity to connect with 14 HBCUs and the HBCU Network. Attendees will gain valuable insights into academic programs, scholarships and even receive on-site acceptance decisions. Those interested can secure their spot at both the fair and game by purchasing tickets at Pistons.com/HBCUCollegeFair.

As doors open at 5:30 p.m., fans will be immersed in HBCU and NPHC-themed activations throughout the arena. The pregame ceremony will feature a stirring performance of “Lift Every Voice and Sing” and the National Anthem by Alpha Kappa Alpha member Chiara Clayton and saxophonist Daryl Bebee. At halftime, Wayne State University’s Divine 9 will take center court for an electrifying stroll-off performance, showcasing the rhythmic tradition of step culture.

For fans looking to commemorate the night, a special ticket package is available, which includes an exclusive HBCU/NPHC t-shirt and lapel pin. Tickets can be purchased at Pistons.com/HBCUxNPHC.

During Black History Month, the Pistons are dedicated to inspiring young people in Detroit by offering programs in the arts, education, and basketball. Their goal is to promote diversity, inclusion, and respect while helping to empower the next generation of leaders.
