Dennis Veal II, a native East Side Detroiter is currently serving the community as the Assistant Principal at Martin Luther King High School, He is a proud Husband and a Father of two. As a Cass Tech 2003 graduate, Veal matriculated through higher Education receiving a Bachelors of Science from Eastern Michigan University and later a Masters Degree in Education from the University of Phoenix. From humble beginnings Veal has served in almost every capacity in Education on all levels, K-12, from Teachers aide, Substitute Teacher, Basketball coach, Mentor, Teacher and now finally as an administrator. As a History Teacher, Veal was awarded the Teacher of the Year Honor at Southeastern High School in 2017-18 and received the Detroit Pistons Game Changer award for community impact and outstanding leadership the following school year. Veal is passionate about education and closing the communication gap between generations. Mr. Veal is a proponent of the Afrocentric centered curriculum. He believes that knowledge of self and the true placement of the successes of African people in World History leads to increased academic achievement.
