Delta Manor to Host “Jazz at the Grove” Fundraiser to Support Senior Media Arts Center

Delta Manor, a longtime senior housing residence rooted in service and legacy, is turning to the community for support as it prepares to host a fundraiser aimed at expanding resources for its residents.

The nonprofit, established in 1983 by the Property Task Force of the Detroit Alumnae Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc., operates a seven-story building in downtown Detroit that houses 99 seniors in one-bedroom units. Now, its board is working to raise $25,000 to create a Multipurpose Informational & Technological Media Arts Center inside the facility—an addition designed to increase access to technology and information for residents.

To support that effort, Delta Manor, Inc., a 501(c)(3) nonprofit housing corporation, will host “Jazz at the Grove,” a fundraising concert scheduled for Thursday, May 7 at 7 p.m. at the Marygrove Theatre, located on the campus of Marygrove College at 8425 W. McNichols Road.

The event will feature pianist Demetrius “Krayon” Nabors, a Grammy-nominated jazz producer and performer, along with special guest Randy Scott, a Billboard No. 1 jazz saxophonist. Organizers say the evening will also include a silent auction, with proceeds going directly toward the proposed media arts center.

The planned center is intended to serve as a shared space where residents can access digital tools, information, and programming that support day-to-day living and connection. Leaders behind the effort say the addition would build on Delta Manor’s long-standing mission to provide a safe and supportive environment for seniors.

Ticket sales will help drive the fundraising goal. General admission tickets are priced at $50, while VIP tickets, which include preferred seating and a swag bag, are available for $75. Tickets can be purchasedonline.

Community members seeking more information about Delta Manor or the fundraiser can contact board member Sharon Clark-Woodside at (313) 920-4785 or by email at sharonclarkwoods@aol.com

The May 7 concert is expected to bring together residents, supporters, and members of Detroit’s broader community for an evening centered on music and giving, with a focus on strengthening services for seniors who call Delta Manor home.
