Covenant House youth compete in Covenant Idol at Hard Rock Café May 27

Talented young hopefuls are rehearsing and perfecting their performances to prepare to take the stage at Hard Rock Café Detroit for the annual Covenant Idol on May 27. Participants are comprised of residents from Covenant House Michigan, a Detroit-based shelter that serves homeless and at-risk youth and students from Covenant House Academy, alternative charter high schools for dropouts and at-risk students ages 16-22.

Celebrity judges include reality star of truTV’s hit show Hardcore Pawn Ashley Gold; and host of Channel 955’s afternoon drive DJ Whip.
Hosted by Shannon Murphy from Channel 955’s Mojo in the Morning Show.
Special guest performances at 6 pm by K. Jibran with Detroit School of Arts Jazz Students, DJ 2Hype and African percussionist Maghan Sowande A. Keita along with Covenant House Academy Students.
The performers will compete for a top prize, courtesy of Channel 955, for the opportunity to introduce one of the featured acts at “The Big Show” concert on June 19 at Joe Louis Arena and attend the show.
Admission is $5 donation at the door. Hard Rock Café will donate a portion of food and drink purchases from 5 to 10 pm to Covenant House Michigan.
