DPS brings professionals to school for Career Day

Students-thumb-0School leaders at Flagship Academy in Detroit are bringing in 40 area professionals for the school’s career day on Thursday, May 21. The gymnasium will look like a career fair with each professional set up at a booth with information to share with students. The fair will run for four hours to give students plenty of time to visit each station. The list of occupations students can explore is broad including a CEO, police officer, pharmacist, nurse, IT professional, marketing specialist, author, social worker, editor, attorney, firefighter, photographer, and engineer…just to name a few.
Dean Alisha Durrett is organizing the event. She said, “Our goal is to inspire and empower our students to go to college, get a degree, and to be an outstanding member of the community. We want our students to see people of various backgrounds and cultures living productive lives and doing wonderful things to serve others.”
Flagship Academy Career Day will take place from  9 a.m. – noon Thursday, May 21 at Flagship Academy :13661 Wisconsin Street Detroit, MI 48238.
