After losing four out of their last five games, the Detroit Pistons are on the verge of an even bigger loss.
According to Yahoo Sports, Blake Griffin will consider season-ending surgery on his ailing left knee; an injury that has limited his action this season. This is the same knee that he had surgery on this past off-season. Griffin, who earned All-NBA Third Team honors last season has only participated in 18 games this season.
His current per-game averages are 15.5 points, 4.7 rebounds, and a field-goal percentage of 35.2; all which are career-lows for the six-time NBA All-Star. In the event that Griffin elects to have season-ending surgery, forwards Christian Wood and rookie Sekou Doumbouya can see increased playing time.
After losing 106-99 to the Los Angeles Lakers, the Pistons have dropped to 13-24 on the season, and are three games shy of the eighth seed in the Eastern Conference.
Griffin’s last game played was on December 28th last year vs. the San Antonio Spurs, where he scored 12 points in 136-109 Pistons’ loss.
