American Idol Finalist Syesha Mercado Fights for the Return of Her Children

What would you do if your babies were taken from you by the very ones put in place to protect you?

That is a question that former American Idol Syesha Mercado is answering right now as Florida authorities took her second child earlier last week, Black Enterprise reported.

The third-place finalist from the reality singing competition faced her youngest child being taken away from her — her first child was also taken by authorities.

Mercado posted a video clip on Instagram Live as the hour-long situation took place in Florida, according to the article.

According to The Herald-Tribune, last Wednesday morning, Manatee County sheriff’s deputies swarmed a car where Mercado sat with her 10-day-old baby girl, along with the father of the child, Tyron Deener. According to the story, police officers had the couple pull over and two of the deputies gave them a court order to turn over the newborn infant for a checkup at the hospital.

A GoFundMe account, “The Legalized Kidnapping of Black Babies Through CPS,” was set up previously to help in the fight to bring the son, Amen’Ra back to them.
