Al Jarreau to perform at Don Bosco Hall’s 18th annual event

aljarreau3_0Don Bosco Hall and seven-time Grammy winner Al Jarreau, invites Metro Detroiters to jazz up their weekend at Don Bosco Halls 18th Annual “Get Jazzy Evening.”

The event will be held on Saturday, Nov. 7, 2015 at the Ford Community and Performing Arts Center in Dearborn, at 15801 Michigan Ave.

Funds raised during this event will go directly to supporting Don Bosco Hall’s various programs for youth and families.

“We are so grateful to have the wonderful music from Al Jarreau joining us at our annual ‘Get Jazzy Evening’ benefit,” said Charles Small, CEO of Don Bosco Hall.  “Each year proceeds positively impact all of the programs that Don Bosco Hall supports, such as mentoring and youth assistance.  We are thankful to have the support of the community to ensure a successful benefit while also enjoying a great evening out.”

Since 1965, Al Jarreau has recorded more than two-dozen albums and is well known for his unique style of scat singing, vocal bass and vocal percussion. He is the first vocalist in music history to receive Grammy Awards in three separate categories, jazz, pop and R&B. Jarreau’s career hits include, “Moonlighting,” “We’re in This Love Together,” “Boogie Down” and “Roof Garden.” His legendary sound has influenced many, including local performer, KEM.

The Saturday night event kicks-off with a private pre-concert reception from 6 – 7:30 p.m., complete with a strolling buffet and entertainment by NuClassica and Mosaic Youth Theatre of Detroit. Al Jarreau will be available for photos with VIP ticket holders in Studio A at 7 p.m. The Michael A. Guido theater doors will open at 7:30 p.m. The benefit concert featuring jazz singer, Al Jarreau, will begin promptly at 8 p.m.

Don Bosco Hall has served the Detroit community for 61 years and has worked with more than 60,000 youth and their families. Proceeds from this year’s event go toward Don Bosco Hall’s Music for Youth Program, helping purchase musical instruments for youth between the ages of 7-17 and Detroit STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, Math) Project, which focuses on digital photography and robotics.

Prices for tickets range from $35-$125.

VIP tickets are being sold for $125 and include the reception before the performance at 6 p.m. with a buffet, cash bar, live entertainment, and a front row view of Al Jarreau’s performance.
