Youth Community Agency Hosts First Annual Charity Sneaker Ball for Teenage Mothers

The annual Sneaker Ball organized by the Youth Community Agency is aimed at raising $15,000 to fund their housing program, to curb homelessness, and launch their pilot program targeted at helping teenage mothers in Detroit

Young Community Agency is thrilled to announce its first annual Sneaker Ball scheduled for August 5, 2021, at 3434 Russell St Suite 501, Detroit, MI 48207 in Eastern Detroit. This event aims to raise $15,000 to fund the Young Community Agency’s housing program, curb homelessness, and launch their pilot program to provide an urban perspective to job readiness for teenage mothers and youth aging out of foster care. Various radio personnel and news crews have been invited to join the agency for this event.

“It was only right for me to create this organization because I am a success from my community, and I didn’t gain it alone,” said Rodnesha Ross, CEO, and Founder of Youth Community Agency. “It was with the help of my parents and my community.” She was recently recognized by ESSENCE magazine as a 2020 Essential Hero.

Rodnesha Ross founded the Youth Community Agency to mentor and empower teenage mothers with the resources and support they need to ensure high school completion and curb homelessness. Ross intends to provide mentoring, temporary housing, and an urban perspective to job readiness for 100 teenage mothers each year.

The First Annual Sneaker Ball of the Young Community Agency will feature a welcome reception by 6:30 pm, Small Plates by 7 pm, and an Award Ceremony by 7:30 pm. In addition, there would be networking, dancing, a silent auction, and the presentation of Difference Maker Awards for community game-changers. Due to

COVID-19 and complying with social distancing rules, all guests will have to wear a face mask before entering the Ball’s venue. In addition, the event will be held both indoors and outdoors. Rodnesha’s ability to give back to the community is one of her prized possessions. Her intention for this event is to expand the gift of giving beyond youth and teenage mothers. In her words, “Falling on hard times or being less fortunate have no age, race or specific circumstance to be in need.” “SHEspeaks” Catrina Tillman will be the special guest host at the Ball, which will comprise varieties such as dancing, entertainment, vendors, silent auction, and gourmet food stations. Tickets for the event are now on sale at www.YCASneakerBall2021.eventbrite.com. For regular, the ticket costs $75 per person and $125 for VIP.

Guests are expected to come dressed in formal wear and sneakers. The organizers will be giving out a prize for the best-dressed guest and sneakers of the evening. Details of the Ball are as follows:
