Wayne County Executive adopts Bagley for ARISE Detroit! Neighborhoods Day

evansThe 9th Annual ARISE Detroit! Neighborhoods Day will feature Wayne County Executive Warren C. Evans, who adopted Bagley Elementary.
“Saturday’s cleanup will contribute to improving the learning environment for the students of Bagley Elementary and make a positive impact on the community that lives in the neighborhood around the school,” said Evans.
In years past, thousands of volunteers have come out to partake in events and neighborhood improvement projects throughout the Aug. 1 massive citywide cleanup.
ARISE Detroit! is a broad-based coalition of community groups, focused on community volunteerism and work based projects. This year’s Neighborhoods Day is sponsored by a number of entities, including: Detroit Future City, Quicken Loans, The Kresge Foundation, and DTE Energy Foundation.
This year, most project requests included painting, planting gardens and flowers, athletic field repairs, plumbing repairs, and boarding up nearby vacant homes.
ARISE Detroit! said they expect this year’s Neighborhoods Day to be bigger than ever.
“Neighborhoods Day is part of a continued commitment by ARISE Detroit! to improve the conditions in our public schools and neighborhoods,” he added.
