Warren Ave. construction ends, Forest Ave. to start

road-work-4M-1 RAIL and the Michigan Department of Transportation announced that Warren Ave. at Woodward is reopened following completion of M-1 RAIL related construction.

“Due to around the clock work from construction crews, the project was finished in advance of the scheduled timeline of 4-6 weeks,” said M-1 RAIL Chief Operating Officer Paul Childs.

Closure of Warren for installation of M-1 RAIL track and a rebuild of the roadway began on October 9.

Area construction will now move to Forest Avenue at Woodward which will be closing Sunday, Nov. 1. at 5 p.m. Work is expected to completed and the road reopened on Nov. 16. Forest between Woodward and John R, will be converted to a two way traffic configuration to allow for local traffic only. Driving and pedestrian detours on Woodward and Forest will be in effect. Parking may be restricted between Cass and John R. Delivery trucks will be directed throughout the construction.

Motorists and pedestrians are asked to obey all traffic safety signs.

Vehicular Detours:

– For those traveling south on Woodward, proceed east on Canfield, north on John R. and east on Forest.
– For those traveling east on Forest, proceed north on Woodward, east on Warren, south on John R. and east on Forest.
– For those traveling north on Woodward toward eastbound Forest, proceed east on Warren, south on John R. and east on Forest.

Pedestrian Detours:

– Northbound pedestrian detour west of Woodward: Proceed north on Woodward to Warren, east on Warren to John R, south on John R to Forest.
– Southbound pedestrian detour west of Woodward: Proceed south on Woodward to Canfield, east on Canfield to John R, north on John R to Forest.
– Northbound pedestrian detour east of Woodward: Proceed north on John R to Warren, west on Warren to Woodward, south on Woodward to Forest.
– Southbound pedestrian detour east of Woodward: Proceed south on John R to Canfield, west on Canfield to Woodward, north on Woodward to Forest.
