Venerable minister Tommie Morgan passes

Tommie L. Morgan, pastor of Faith Temple Baptist Church, went from labor to rest on Tuesday, Feb. 11.
He became pastor in 1978 and remained in that position until his passing.
For more than 32 years, Pastor Morgan was the moderator of the Willingness Baptist District Association. He received his honorary Degree of Divinity from the Tennessee School of Religion in 2000 and preached for the National Baptist Convention in 2009.
In 2011, Pastor Morgan was honored at the 2011 Michigan Chronicle Pastor’s Salute that was held at the St. Regis Hotel where he opened the service with prayer.
He was a leader, husband, father and family man, but most of all was committed and dedicated to Faith Temple Baptist Church.
Pastor Morgan paved the way for so many young preachers and pastor, giving them a chance to do what the Lord called them to do.
Known for his rendition of “Died One Time, Ain’t Gon’ Die No More,”  Pastor Morgan will be forever missed by  Faith Temple Baptist Church, the city of Detroit and all others who knew him.
