Whitney Houston’s unmistakable voice will fill the Detroit Opera House this fall as “The Voice of Whitney: A Symphonic Celebration” arrives for a one-night-only performance on Saturday, Oct. 10, at 8 p.m.

The concert marks the 40th anniversary of Houston’s music career and offers audiences a different way to experience the catalog that made her one of the most recognizable voices in modern music. Original master and remastered recordings of Houston’s vocals will be paired with new orchestral arrangements performed live by the Detroit Opera Orchestra under the direction of conductor Sean Mayes.

The evening will include some of Houston’s most beloved songs, including “I Will Always Love You” and “I Wanna Dance with Somebody (Who Loves Me),” while also incorporating never-before-seen video footage, interviews, home movies and clips from historic performances. The result is designed as part concert, part visual tribute and part celebration of Houston’s enduring impact.

Presented in collaboration with Pat Houston and The Estate of Whitney Houston, Park Avenue Artists and Primary Wave Music, the Detroit performance is part of a North American tour commemorating Houston’s four decades in music and entertainment. The production has previously played sold-out performances at venues including the Kennedy Center in Washington, D.C., the Ravinia Festival in Illinois, Town Hall in New York City and Nashville’s Schermerhorn Symphony Center.

For fans who grew up with Houston’s music—or those discovering the scope of her artistry in a new way—the Detroit stop offers a chance to hear her recorded vocals surrounded by the scale and richness of a full orchestra.

Tickets begin at $57, including fees. Detroit residents with valid government-issued identification showing a Detroit address can purchase up to two tickets for $25 each at the box office during the week of Oct. 5. Date Night and Girls Night Out packages are also available.

“The Voice of Whitney: A Symphonic Celebration” takes place Oct. 10 at 8 p.m. at the Detroit Opera House.
