*The phantom rapper known as Your Old Droog is at it again. This time he serenaded MSNBC/Today Show host Tamron Hall with the song “On the News.” The rapper — who some believe is Nas — revealed he’s in awe of Hall and dedicated the love song to her. Yeah, whoever it is has it bad […]
Hip-hop mogul and brow-raising businessman Marion “Suge” Knight (pictured right) was shot in the leg back in 2005 at an MTV Video Music Awards pre-party in Miami that musician Kanye West was hosting. At the time, police investigators did have their who-done-it suspicions, but never took anyone into custody for the shooting. Now a federal informant has stepped forward to provide details about the attempted hit on Knight, which was allegedly ordered by former music executive and now convicted drug trafficker, James “Jimmy Henchman” Rosemond (pictured left), according to The Smoking Gun[1]. The informant, who has only been identified by the moniker “CW-3” (Confidential Witness 3), reportedly told authorities that he was hired by his longtime associate Rosemond to shoot Knight. The gunman alleged that Rosemond, who was coincidentally in attendance at the party, not only paid him $10,000 but handed him a gun to use for the shooting. The motive for the shooting is still unknown.
Every rapper likes a bit of controversy, but Lil’ Wayne’s recent antics have some people thinking he may have gone too far. Footage from Lil Wayne’s music video “God Bless Amerika” recently hit the internet showing an oversized American flag being dropped to the ground before the rapper proceeds to dance across it. While one could argue that he meant no harm by his actions, the lyrics to the song suggest otherwise: ”My country ’tis of thee / Sweet land of kill ‘em all and let ‘em die / God bless Amerika / This ole’ godless Amerika.” So is Wayne simply exercising his first amendment rights or can the New Orleans rapper’s behavior be deemed unpatriotic.
