Legendary R&B singer Stephanie Mills is bringing her “An Intimate Evening with Stephanie Mills” show to Andiamo’s Celebrity Showroom on Sunday, November 20 at 7:00 p.m.
Today the renowned Mills is known for her R&B, gospel, and soul vocals. But the former Broadway star first came to fame as “the little girl with the big voice” as the star of the hit Broadway play, The Wiz. She has recorded numerous R&B hits, including the million-selling single “Never Knew Love Like This Before”. In addition, she is a two-time Grammy Award winner and has five gold albums.
Mills has had us completely captivated since her rise to stardom as Dorothy in the original Broadway run of the four-time Tony Award-winning show, The Wiz. Mills went on to grace us with chartbusting music, hit after hit, generating five best-selling albums and 10 Billboard No. 1 singles, including “Never Knew Love Like This Before,” “What Cha’ Gonna Do With My Lovin’,” “Two Hearts,” “Sweet Sensation,” and “How Come U Don’t Call Me Anymore?” In a span of just two years, she released three best-selling albums in a row—What Cha’ Gonna Do With My Lovin’ (Mills’ first gold record), Sweet Sensation, and Stephanie—all of which were critically acclaimed.
The singer talks about what fans can expect at her Sunday night show. “They can expect the Stephanie Mills they know and love,” she said. “It’s really a blessing to have people who want to come see you. So I try really hard to give them the same sound from my albums.”
The singer will be performing her hits and she’s toying with idea of singing a song or two from her new project that she has in the works. “I’m working on a new album which will be all about love. I actually did a cover of Ed Sheeran’s “Thinking Out Loud” which people have really been loving, so I may do that song,” Mills coyly replied. However the singer has made it clear that this show is not about the new material.
“This show is a thank you gift to the people who have and continue to support me. Its a blessing to be able to do what you love for this many years so I want to give people the Stephanie Mills they know and love.”
The show starts at 7:00 p.m. on Sunday, November 20 at Andiamo’s Celebrity Showroom in Warren. Tickets are on sale now at all Ticketmaster locations, Ticketmaster.com and Andiamo’s Box Office.
