So after a 30-plus year run in Detroit, the Motown Hoedown is pulling up stakes and relocating to DTE Energy Music Theater. The festival, begun by Mayor Coleman Young, used to be a three-day affair. Now it’s down to one day. The Motown Hoedown kinda had a ring to it. The WYCD Hoedown…? Not so much. Detroit’s booming downtown comeback is sparking national headlines, and the Hoedown folks decided now was a good time to head for greener (???) pastures.
