A group of Los Angeles FBI Agents who are assigned to a terrorist task force respond to a homicide of a young girl found dead next door to a mosque, shortly after the 9/11 terrorist attack on the world trade center. The victim turns out to be Jess’s daughter. After the team’s inability to charge the killer of Jess’s daughter, Ray leaves the bureau. For the next 13 years Ray searches for the killer and in 2015 he believes he has found the killer. He goes back to Los Angeles to give the news to Jess and now district attorney, Nicole Kidman (Claire) only to find out that who he thought was the killer may not be.
Billy Ray’s adaptation of the 2010 Argentinian film The Secret in their Eyes was well done. The mystery/thriller had me on the edge of my seat. Julia Roberts, Chiwetel Ejiofor and Nicole Kidman were phenomenal. The chemistry between the actors was evident in their betrayal of their characters. I give the film 4 out of 5 stars.
The film is rated PG-13.
