Rocket Mortgage Classic raises over $1 million for local non-profit organizations

The philanthropic leg of Rock Ventures is a highlight each year for the company. The Quicken Loans Community Fund lends its chartable support in areas which include housing stability, entrepreneurship, education and employment, public spaces, community sponsorships, and volunteer engagement-giving. Moreover, the Rocket Giving Fund hosts PGA Tour events (Rocket Mortgage Classic), then reinvest the funds into Detroit communities.

On January 15, Rocket Mortgage Classic held a media press conference at the Detroit Golf Club. Donors, media representatives and more watched as Jason Langwell, Executive Director of Rocket Mortgage Classic; Jay Farner, CEO of Quicken Loans, and Laura Grannemann, Vice President, Quicken Loans Community Fund announce a $1.2 million donation to Detroit organizations including Midnight Golf Program, First Tee of Greater Detroit, Detroit Golf Club Caddie Scholarship Foundation, Detroit Children’s Fund, Greater Palmer Park Community, and Detroit Police Athletic League. The tournament exceeded all expectations and received high praise from the PGA of America.

Jason Langwell opened the conference with high remarks regarding everyone’s participation in the event. “We brought golf to the City of Detroit for the first time, said Langwell. “We were more than just a golf tournament. We offered something for fans of golf and fans of Detroit. This level of enthusiasm in the community propels us in so many ways. This was a fantastic team effort.

Jay Farner said the mission of Rock Family of Companies is to “support and bring enthusiasm and energy to the City of Detroit.” “We’re proud how we’re able to utilize this tournament and shine a spotlight on all the incredible things happening in Detroit.

Laura Grannemann made the announcements regarding financial contributions to each organization.

  • Midnight Golf- $225,000
  • First Tee of Greater Detroit- $125,000
  • Detroit Golf Club Caddie Scholarship Foundation- $20,000
  • Detroit Children’s Fund- $200,000
  • Greater Palmer Park Community- $150,000
  • Detroit Police Athletic League- $92,340

“The Rocket Mortgage Classic is an amazing platform for us to be able to shine a spotlight on Detroit,” Grannemann said. The Rocket Mortgage Classic has focused on specific areas of improvement, and I’m excited to continue moving forward with these efforts.
