The Detroit Pistons have made another change to their front office.
According to ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski, the Pistons parted ways with assistant General Manager Pat Garrity on Sunday afternoon. Garrity––who is a remnant from Stan Van Gundy’s tenure as head coach and President of Basketball Operations––contract was on the verge of expiring.
This makes him the second person to leave one of Pistons’ assistant general manager positions in under 40 days. On June 1st, Malik Rose left the same position to take a job in the NBA’s front office.
In 2014, then–Pistons head coach Stan Van Gundy hired Garrity as the director of strategic planning. He was promoted to assistant general manager on June 15th, 2016.
Garrity’s departure is another move in the Pistons’ continuous overhaul of the organization. Since trading franchise player Andre Drummond, changes from player personnel to the front office have been rampant. The most significant change this year took place on June 18th. That is when they hired Troy Weaver as their new general manager. Weaver left his position as VP of Basketball Operations with the Oklahoma City Thunder to take the position. And multiple reports state that he has already began reshaping their front office since taking the position.
Prior to joining the Pistons, Garrity played 10 NBA seasons between the Phoenix Suns and the Orlando Magic.
