President and CEO of The Shyft Group Named 2022 Notable Leader in EV

As the country becomes more conscious of emissions and the environment, companies are racing to lessen the effects motor vehicles have on the environment. In the Motor City, vehicles are evolving and leaders are emerging as they spearhead advances in the automotive industry. Crain’s Detroit Business recently released its pick and announced a metro Detroit CEO as the 2022 Notable Leader in EV.

Appointed as President and CEO in 2015, Daryl Adams has led the charge for The Shyft Group. Headquartered in Novi, The Shyft Group is the North American leader in specialty vehicle manufacturing, assembly, and upfit for the commercial, retail, and service specialty vehicle markets. Formerly known as Spartan Motors, the company began in 1975 and has since continued to make advances in the automotive industry.

Reserved for executives currently supporting the EV industry by adopting, advocating, and implementing electric vehicles and EV platforms such as charging infrastructure, fleet conversion, and research, Adams was selected as an EV leader due to his significant contribution and measurable impact in the electric vehicle industry, as well as his community.

“In taking the role of CEO seven years ago, I recognized a unique opportunity to leverage our 50 year heritage in specialty vehicle chassis manufacturing and body building for last-mile delivery, as well as our coast-to-coast manufacturing and service infrastructure to now deliver EV solutions at scale,” says Adams. “Together with my team, we worked quickly to address future needs in last-mile parcel delivery, providing our customers with a full ecosystem of electric-powered solutions, designed to meet both sustainability and performance goals.”

In early 2022, launched Blue Arc™ EV Solutions, a new go-to-market brand, together with a trio of initial product offerings, an industry-first commercial grade purpose-built EV chassis; a fully reimagined from the ground up all-electric Class 3 delivery walk-in van; and a fully portable, remote controlled, commercial-grade, EV charging station, the Power Cube™. The Power Cube is fully customizable and can deliver power without being connected to the grid. Under these solutions, the new innovations can have vehicles up and charged in up to two hours.

“We created Blue Arc to not only support our customers and their sustainability goals, but to better serve our communities and our planet,” said Adams. “Investing in sustainable innovation that precisely fits the needs of both our customers and drivers is what we do best.”

This month, Adams was also named a finalist in the award for 2022 Entrepreneur Of The Year Michigan and Northwest Ohio by EY.

“Our entrepreneurial spirit can be found in our designs that introduce efficiency and emphasize driver safety, creating a better world for drivers, fleet managers and those responsible for positive people and business outcomes,” says Adams.

The regional finalists will be recognized and winners will be announced at the Michigan and Northwest Ohio awards celebration on June 23, 2022, at One Campus Martius in Detroit. Regional winners will then go on to be considered for Entrepreneur Of The Year National Awards and that winner will then move on to compete for the EY World Entrepreneur Of The Year Award in June 2023.
