DETROIT (WXYZ) – DTE Energy says power has been returned to downtown building affected by the Wednesday night outage.
DTE say two underground cable failures caused the outage. Buildings without power included the Courtyard Marriott, the Millender Center and a portion of the Renaissance Center.
As of Thursday morning a DTE representative said all affected customers have power although in some cases it is being supplied by generators.
Crews continue to work to make repairs. They hope to have repairs complete by midday Thursday.
Wednesday, people trapped in an office building at 150 West after it lost power had to be carried down the stairs by firefighters
Emergency crews had to guide people out of the building when it lost power around 3:30 this afternoon. There are 22 floors in the building and 11 people were inside. At least three people had to be carried out by firefighters.
According to at least one person in the building at the time, a pregnant woman and a person needing a hip replacement needed help coming down. We’re told some people were also trapped in the elevators until the fire department arrived.
Several law offices are in the building.
