Parks in Downtown Detroit Gear Up for ‘Draft Day in the D’ Festivities

The upcoming Draft Day in the D event by Downtown Detroit Partnership promises to be a thrilling three-day celebration with something for everyone. Taking place from April 25th to 27th, this football extravaganza will be held at some of Downtown Detroit’s most picturesque parks and public spaces, including Capital Park, Beacon Park, Beatrice Buck Park, Grand Circus Park, and along a section of Woodward Avenue. The newly renovated Paradise Valley, formerly known as Harmonie Park, will be a must-visit for all cigar enthusiasts. It will feature luxury cigar-rolling, live entertainment, and other exciting activities. The best part about this event is that it is completely free and open to fans and visitors of all ages.

Some of the activities will include beer and spirits, food trucks from over 35 local food vendors, shopping the D, supporting over 45 local vendors on display each day, and much more! Enjoy music and entertainment as Detroit musicians and entertainers will take the stage to showcase the city’s talent and energy.

Immerse yourself in the interactive art installations at Capitol Park. Additionally, attendees can immerse themselves in the custom-made Draft Day in the D football arch created by LeMonde Studio. The arch will be in Capitol Park, and six unique football benches will be placed throughout the park, offering the perfect fan photo opportunity to capture that special draft memory.

Get a friendly but competitive game of cornhole and much more at Beacon Park. There will be daily cornhole tournaments from 4 – 6 p.m. Attendees can catch all the live Draft action on two big screens.

So, whether you’re a football fanatic, a cigar lover, or simply looking for a fun day out with your family and friends, Draft Day in the D is the perfect event for you. Get ready to enjoy a weekend of non-stop entertainment, food, and drinks, all set against the stunning backdrop of Downtown Detroit.

All of the fun begins at 11 a.m. to 11 p.m. on Thursday, April 25th, noon to 8 p.m. on Friday, April 26th, and April 27th, and takes place at Capitol Park, Beacon Park, Grand Circus Park, Paradise Valley Beatrice Buck Park and a portion of Woodward Avenue between State and Witherell streets.
