The Michigan Chronicle’s  Men of Excellence Awards Ceremony will take place on July 10, at the elegant MGM Grand Detroit. Each year, The Michigan Chronicle celebrates local African-American men who inspire others through vision and leadership, exceptional achievements, and participation in community service. This year, native Detroiter Congressman Keith Ellison will return to his hometown to speak to 56 honorees on his personal journey as a distinguished Men of Excellence.
Congressman Keith Ellison currently represents Minnesota’s 5th Congressional District in the U.S. House of Representatives. The Fifth District includes the City of Minneapolis and surrounding suburbs and is one of the most vibrant and ethnically diverse districts in Minnesota. Born and raised in Detroit, Michigan, Congressman Ellison is a graduate of Wayne State University, and thereafter earned his law degree from University of Minnesota Law School in 1990.
Rep. Ellison’s guiding philosophy is based on “generosity and inclusion” and his priorities in Congress are building prosperity for working families, promoting peace, pursuing environmental sustainability, and advancing civil and human rights.
Now in its eight year, The Michigan Chronicle’s Men of Excellence has created a brotherhood comprised of its area’s most influential men. The Michigan Chronicle is honored to welcome Rep. Ellison, a man of excellence in his own rights, to this year’s celebratory. This year’s theme: “Leaders of today” focuses on individuals who are dedicated to being a living example for those to come.

Congratulations to all our 2015 Men of Excellence Honorees
