Michigan Attorney General Dana Nessel filed an emergency appeal against an injunction that stopped the ban on open carry firearms at the polls on Election Day.
Court of Claims Judge Christopher Murray issued a preliminary injunction on Tuesday that stops the ban.
Michigan Secretary of State Jocelyn Benson issued the ban to ensure Michiganders can cast their vote without the fear of voter harassment and intimidation.
Some Michigan officials argued that the ban was of critical importance following the surge of angered Americans and the failed attempt to kidnap Gov. Gretchen Whitmer on Oct. 8.
During a press conference on voting in the general election Wednesday, Michigan Lt. Governor Garlin Gilchrist II condemned voter intimidation.
“If you do plan to go to the polls on Nov. 3 remember voter intimidation of any kind is illegal. No one has the right to stand between you and casting your ballot.”
Michigan officials say that while they have no plans to have law enforcement present at the polls, they will be on standby.
