Method Man Wants to Know How Young Rappers Stay Rich

Method Man’s larger-than-life hip-hop debut and career start was about 30 years ago with his Wu-Tang group members — and the Staten Island native has some questions for the new rappers.

“Where are they getting this money?,” the Power Book II: Ghost star asked in a Black Enterprise article when he sees the over-the-top lifestyles today’s rappers are displaying on social media.

Method Man recently was on Math Hoffa’s My Expert Opinion podcast and discussed his financial growth as a rapper to today’s rappers who he sees always showing up flying private, buying luxury cars, and showing off their bread online.

“I remember getting 2,500 a show. ‘All I Need’ had dropped, and I’m doing shows every f-cking day. Seven days a week,” Method Man said, as noted by Atlanta Black Star. “I had to tell the manager to raise the price. … Next thing I know, I’m getting 25 G’s a show, and I’m forgetting cause I love what I’m doing so much. …Every penny I got, I know where that came from. And I still don’t live like no motherf-cking Rockefeller. Not saying I can’t, but I still don’t.”
