The Detroit Lions overcame turnovers at the end of the first half and the beginning of the second half to win their first division game of the season, a 20-17 victory over the visiting Green Bay Packers.

Jahmyr Gibbs tallied another 100-plus yard rushing game, totaling 116 rushing yards on 29 carries, and adding another five catches for 25 yards. It was the first game of the season where he didn’t reach the endzone.

His teammate Jameson Williams scored both Lions’ touchdowns, as Williams had five catches for 91 yards and the two scores. Jared Goff had an efficient ball game, completing 22-of-32 passes for 303 yards, two touchdowns and no interceptions.

The Lions escaped despite two costly turnovers: one to end the first half and another to start the third quarter. Green Bay was only able to turn those into one score, though, and they had their share of blown opportunities.

Kicker Trey Smack missed field goals on Green Bay’s first and final drives of the game, which meant any score on the Lions final possession would seal a victory for the home team.

The Lions answered, getting the ball with just over four minutes left and marching downfield for a 22-yard field goal as time expired to win the game, 20-17, for the Lions.

With the win, the Lions move to 4-2 on the season, while Green Bay falls to 4-3.
