Another basketball legend gained his wings recently.
Trailblazing star Elgin Baylor, described as a scoring and rebounding machine, died at 86 years old on March 22. Baylor played for the Minneapolis and Los Angeles Lakers for 14 seasons before becoming a coach and an executive, according to Black America Web.
Baylor, born September 16, 1934, in Washington, D.C., became a star player in the city during his senior year at Spingarn High School. He was nicknamed Rabbit and grew up with basketball as a strong force in his life from his two older brothers. Later on, Baylor was selected No. 1 overall by the Minneapolis Lakers during a 1958 NBA Draft.
