Miami Gardens hosted it’s annual Jazz In The Garden Festival, this is the fourteenth year for the annual festival that brings together a blend of Jazz, R&B, and Hip Hop.
The festival kicked off to great reviews of sun, fun, and music. Along with a great crowd of concertgoers from around the U.S., there was plenty of activities and shopping including vendors and Macy’s pop-up shops that inticed women and men alike.
Kicking off the opening day was Florida natives and Jazz In The Garden founding performers Black Violin, whose blend of Classical, Jazz, and Hip Hop embodies the true essence of Jazz In The Gardens. Black Violin did not disappoint guests and surprised the audience with a compilation tribute to Biggie Small on the anniversary of his untimely death, followed by blended classical beats to the background of Cardi B and Childish Gambino before slowing down the vibe and giving the stage to the voice that is Stephanie Mills.
Listen… Ms. Mills and her fantastic band and back up singers ignited the Auntie jams in the youngest of souls with renditions of ‘Power of Love,’ Teddy Pendergrass ‘Two Hearts,’ Luther Vandross ‘All My Love.’ Along with her iconic hits, ‘I Feel Good’ and “When I think of Home” which featured on the soundtrack of the ‘The Wiz’.
Flash-forward to a taste of the nineties with a compilation of performances by Jagged Edge, ‘Gotta Be’ and ‘Let’s Get Married.’ Followed by En Vogue with their treasured vibes, ‘Giving Him Something He Can Feel’ and ‘What’s It Gonna Be’ from the ‘Set It Off’ soundtrack and all-time fav, ‘Hold On.’
The nineties R&B wrap was complete with Teddy Riley and Friends, Blackstreet, Guy, and Bobby Brown to close out day one of Jazz In The Gardens.
