The Stevie Awards announced the winners in The 19th Annual American Business Awards competition and the James H. Cole Legacy Foundation is a proud winner of a Bronze Award for their “Love Thy Neighbor” campaign in the Communications or PR Campaign of the Year – Non-Profit/Charity category. The winning initiative shows the Foundation’s support for local students and appreciation for their neighbors’ hard work serving the most vulnerable among us.
James H. Cole Home for Funerals established the James H. Cole Legacy Foundation in 2019 as a way to celebrate the family-owned business’ 100-year anniversary, and to thank the community for its continued support. The purpose of the Foundation is to establish relationships with other non-profit organizations and the Metro Detroit business community, to provide opportunities for economic empowerment, assist underserved schools and children in need, and support the everyday people who make Detroit a great place to live.
Some of the 2020 “Love Thy Neighbor” campaign efforts include donating 500 backpacks filled with school and health supplies to students at Detroit Collegiate Preparatory High School at Northwestern, providing more than 300 meals to front-line workers, including hospital staff and firefighters, celebrating key figures that are making amazing contributions to Detroit and beyond in the 2021 James H. Cole Heroes and Hope Calendar, and donating 50 teddy bears to children of incarcerated parents through the Pure Heart Foundation. “There are many ways to service the community. Making sure our students have the necessary tools for success and our children have opportunities to experience joy, even in these most trying times, is a priority for us.”, says Antonio Green, President of the Legacy Foundation. 2021 efforts are underway with upcoming food donations to more front-line workers and the development of the 2022 Heroes and Hope Calendar.
