DETROIT, MI- National recognition for a Detroit-based start-up signals a new era for economic development in Detroit. Walker-Miller Energy Services in Detroit’s Midtown district was recently named one of Inc. Magazine’s 5000 Fastest Growing Private Companies.

The Inc. 5000 is ranked according to percentage revenue growth over a three-year period. To qualify, companies must be U.S.-based, privately held, and independent. Additionally, revenues must exceed $2 million annually. Honorees were selected not only for their rate-of-growth, but also due to the ever-vital job creation metric. Walker-Miller’s rank of 1518 out of 5000 is the result of a 283% growth rate over the last three years as well as their commitment to hiring Detroit residents.

“Building off a strong history of regional investment and innovative partnerships, Walker-Miller has been able to make measurable and socially conscious changes to the area,” says Melanie Steele, vice president of operations at Walker-Miller Energy Services. “Walker-Miller is excited to be on the cutting edge of the vital industry of energy conservation.”

Founded in 2000, Walker-Miller performs residential and commercial energy efficiency services that help to decrease consumption, shrink the carbon footprint, and improve air quality, comfort and safety.
