Governor Whitmer Orders Temporary Shut Down Of Bars, Restaurants Due To COVID-19

Governor Gretchen Whitmer has now ordered all bars and restaurants to close their doors. Patrons will still be able to order delivery and carry-out, but dining-in is prohibited as of now. Images have appeared on social media showing Starbucks locations without chairs to encourage patrons to order on-the-go. Also, drive-through fast food locations have experienced a decrease in customer traffic across the state.

More information about the widespread shutdown will be available in the coming hours.

This decision from Gov. Whitmer is the latest in a string of announcements to combat COVID-19. Whitmer ordered casinos in Downtown Detroit to close, banned large gatherings in crowds ranging from 50-250, and closed DPSCD schools statewide until April 6. Currently, there are over 50 cases of COVID-19 in the State of Michigan.
