Fifth Third Bank unique program rewards employee volunteerism

FifthThirdBankFifth Third Bank of Eastern Michigan is awarding a total of $26,500 in grants to 50 nonprofit organizations located throughout southeast Michigan. Each organization was awarded a $530 grant and was nominated by Fifth Third Bank employees who volunteer there.
The program, named Employee Involvement Grants, is part of an annual holiday unique to Fifth Third Bank, which is Fifth Third Day or 5/3 on the calendar. It is a time when the bank honors its customers, community and colleagues in a week-long celebration called the Fifth Third Week of Giving. The idea is to give back to those who have given so much to the success of Fifth Third Bank.
“Fifth Third Bank’s brand and name provide us with an opportunity to have our own holiday, which involves thanking customers, recognizing employees and supporting the communities we serve”, said David Girodat, President and CEO, Fifth Third Bank Eastern Michigan. “Fifth Third Day is a reflection of our purpose statement…to listen to customers and to inspire them with smart financial solutions that continually improve their lives and the well being of our communities,” he concluded.
