Calloway currently serves as a Construction Manager with the City of Detroit’s General Services Department, overseeing projects that improve public infrastructure and public spaces. Her career has also included leadership roles with Detroit Public Schools Community District, The Nature Conservancy, and the City of Detroit, giving her firsthand experience in education, neighborhood development, environmental stewardship, and local government. She holds a bachelor’s degree in applied health sciences with a concentration in Public Health, bringing a multidisciplinary perspective to the policy challenges facing Michigan communities.
Her commitment to service extends beyond her professional career. As founder of The Black Pack, Calloway has worked to expand Black participation in outdoor recreation and conservation while creating opportunities for families to engage with Michigan’s natural resources. She is also active in civic organizations, including Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated and the Detroit Association of Women’s Clubs, reflecting a consistent record of leadership that extends well beyond election season.
That record has earned Calloway the confidence of an unusually broad coalition of leaders and organizations. She is endorsed by incumbent State Representative Regina Weiss, whose support reflects confidence in Calloway’s ability to continue effective representation for the district. Labor organizations – including the Michigan Education Association, the American Federation of Teachers Michigan, AFSCME, the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers Local 58, and the Northern Midwest Regional Council of Carpenters – have also backed her campaign, signaling trust in her commitment to working families, public education, and good-paying union jobs.
Calloway has also earned endorsements from Detroit Mayor Mary Sheffield, Black Slate, Planned Parenthood Advocates of Michigan, the Michigan League of Conservation Voters, Young Democrats of Michigan, Fems for Dems, and Detroit Police Commissioner At-Large Darryl Woods, among many others. Her campaign priorities focus squarely on the issues residents discuss around kitchen tables every day: lowering the cost of auto insurance, expanding affordable housing, strengthening workforce development and skilled trades, investing in early childhood education, improving neighborhood infrastructure, and protecting Michigan’s public schools. Those priorities recognize that thriving communities are built by investing in people, creating economic opportunities, and ensuring every neighborhood has the resources to succeed.
