Driving Change: How DTE Energy Foundation Helps Families Put Food on the Table

Must read

The DTE Foundation is continuing its mission to strengthen communities by committing $300,000 to address rising food insecurity across Michigan.

The funding will support trusted partners like Food Bank of Eastern Michigan, Food Gatherers, Forgotten Harvest, Gleaners Community Food Bank, United Way, and Feeding America West Michigan – organizations that work tirelessly to provide nutritious meals and expand distribution efforts for families in need.

“Families across Michigan continue to face real challenges putting food on the table,” said Rodney Cole, president, DTE Foundation. “We’re proud to stand alongside our partners to make sure nutritious meals reach those who need them most. This is about caring for our neighbors and strengthening the communities where we live and serve.”

“Our fondest memories, strongest traditions and most heartfelt celebrations often have one thing in common: the meals we share with one another,” said Gerry Brisson, president and CEO, Gleaners Community Food Bank. “When we come together to solve hunger, the investments we make in our neighbors lift up the whole community, not just the people we’re helping. We’re grateful for partners like the DTE Foundation, whose support will feed families today and tomorrow.”

“With the support of amazing partners like the DTE Foundation, United Way’s Every Family Fed Fund will help ensure those harmed by disruptions in critical nutrition programs like SNAP can continue to put food on the table,” said Dr. Darienne Hudson, president and CEO, United Way for Southeastern Michigan. “We are grateful for all our donors and community partners like DTE who have answered the call and amplified their giving in this time of incredible need.”

This commitment builds on the Foundation’s year-to-date impact: $1,062,000 invested in 39 organizations fighting hunger statewide. From the Upper Peninsula to Southeast Michigan, the DTE Foundation is helping ensure every family has access to healthy food.
