DPS’ Stellar School, Davison Elementary wins national award

A Stellar School, a Stellar Teacher and Now, a Gospel Stellar Award Winning Choir

Detroit Public Schools’ Davison Elementary, the Stellar School, Michigan Governor Rick Snyder touts as one of his favorite DPS schools, was recently awarded in Las Vegas , Nevada, the prestigious Gospel Stellar Award; recognizing the school’s choir of thirty (30) for having the top Gospel Youth Recording Project in the nation. The Choir’s founder and director is Michigan State Certified School Teacher, James Render; he also took first place in WDIV’s annual Bookstock writing competition 2015, with his fourth grade student. Mr. Render has been offered an opportunity to do a Reality Show about his life as a teacher, choir director for these DPS students and entrepreneur. He says he’s going to think about it, and “God Bless everyone who has been involved in making these endeavors happen for Detroit Public Schools. God you rock!”
