One of the positives from the pandemic continues to bring a wave of energy and togetherness across the country. DJ D-Nice created Club Quarantine, an online social media music session, uniting the culture and pumping positive vibes through music during the time when the country, and world needed it most. High profile A-Listers like Jamie Foxx, Lenny Kravitz, Rihanna, Kerry Washington, Kylie Jenner, Oprah, Bernie Sanders and many more joined the online live streaming party to dance and sing to the tunes in a time when most of the country was under stay at home orders. Reaching over 100,000 viewers at one point, even Facebook Founder Mark Zuckerberg, who also owns Instagram, checked in to see what was happening on the platform his company runs. And we knew it was something really special when former First Lady Michelle Obama herself joined the virtual party.
Three years later, Club Quarantine is still alive and D-Nice has traveled the country bringing Club Quarantine Live to many US cities. As he mixes records in front of the crowds, he also brings out some of his music industry friends to perform their songs to further excite the audience.
Last weekend, Club Quarantine Live made a stop in Detroit and took over the Aretha Franklin Amphitheater. Just like other shows on the tour, the Aretha was full of music lovers ready to dance and sing. D-Nice, party hype man Kenny Burns, and tv host / actor Spice Adams engaged the crowd with Hip Hop, R&B, and even some classic Motown hits. Of course it wouldn’t be Club Quarantine without some of D-Nice’s friends as special guests. Lil Mo, K-Jon, CL Smooth, Lloyd, Donell Jones, KEM, and Deborah Cox all took stage to perform some of their hits as patrons were singing and dancing along. The party on the Detroit riverfront didn’t end until well after 11p with the only wish from those in attendance was that it did not have to end.
