Awash in blue, U.S. voters selected Democrats to keep power in the Senate with their midterm votes.

NBC News reported that President Joe Biden and his fellow Democrat allies are celebrating major Congressional wins while their Republican counterparts are pointing fingers at former President Donald Trump for their failure to launch during midterm elections.

After the Democrats were projected to keep control of the U.S. Senate (following a close win by Democratic Sen. Catherine Cortez Masto over Republican Adam Laxalt’s bid to win re-election in Nevada), Biden shared his thoughts.

“We feel good about where we are. And I know I’m a cockeyed optimist,” Biden told reporters in Cambodia in the NBC News article while adding that he is “not surprised” by the numbers.

Democrats beat out a number of Trump-supported candidates. Control of the House has yet to be identified as several races are not clearly known, according to the article.

Prior to Cortez Masto’s victory, Democratic Sen. Mark Kelly of Arizona was re-elected in Arizona, securing a victory over Republican Blake Masters, according to the article.

In a recent interview on NBC News, Sen. Bill Cassidy, a Louisiana Republican, told the news outlet that Trump is at fault for the party’s “underwhelming performance” due to Trump’s thoughts on election fraud.

“I learned that the American people want a way forward that actually focuses on ideas, ideas that will make their lives better, not just their lives but that for future generations,” Cassidy said in the article. “Those who are most closely aligned with the former president under-performed. Those who are talking about the future or who had managed their states well, they overperformed. The American people want ideas. They want a future.”

Republican Maryland Gov. Larry Hogan echoed similar thoughts and said in the article that the party should reevaluate its priorities.
