photoOn Sunday September 21, 2014 Collin Mays was awarded the prestigious Young Democrat of the Year award by the Oakland County Democratic Party. The award highlights up and coming young Democrats that have made a difference in the state party. The young Democrat of the year award was presented by Democratic nominee for Congress Brenda Lawrence. The 24 year old Mays is no stranger to Politics and has worked in the arena for years. In 2011 he was elected President of Western Michigan University Democrats, shortly after he was appointed to serve as the Chairman of Political Affairs for the Western Student Association.

In 2012 he was inducted into Who’s Who in Black Detroit for the sixth edition; he was the youngest person to be inducted in the publication. Mr. Mays has also previously worked as Field Director to Andre Spivey  in 2013. In late 2013 Collin was a special consultant for the Harriet Tubman Center in Detroit. Most recently Collin has served as the Field Director to both David Knezek for State Senate as well as Barry Brickner for State Representative.  Collin has also worked as a special field consultant for Dr. Anil Kumar for Congress. Currently he works as district liaison for Michigan State Representative Vicki Barnett. Occasionally you may also be able to watch Mays on Fox 2’s Let it rip weekend.   Outside of politics Collin spends his time golfing, fishing, reading and spending times with his friends and family.
