Charles Muse was named assistant program engineering manager – Autonomous in August 2019. In this role, he’s responsible for leading two revolutionary technologies needed to execute validation and service of fully autonomous vehicles, managing a $20M budget alongside very complex deliverables.

Previously, Muse achieved and surpassed the aerodynamics criteria set forth on the company’s crossover vehicles, improving vehicle energy performance (C02 & fuel economy). This includes many vehicles such as the Chevy Blazer, Cadillac XT5, Chevy Traverse, Buick Enclave and GMC Acadia.

Muse joined the GM family in 2011 and has excelled in various assignments, each growing in scope and responsibility. He has held positions across multiple functions and commodities including Global Noise & Vibration, Chassis, Energy & Aerodynamics, Engineering Operations, Design & Release Engineering, as well as Autonomous and Electrified Vehicle Engineering.

In 2019, Muse mentored a group of young aspiring journalists participating in the Discover the Unexpected scholarship and journalism fellowship program, a collaboration between Chevrolet and the National Newspaper Publishers Association.

A native of Chicago’s Southside, Muse holds a bachelor of science degree in Aerospace Engineering from The Ohio State University and is licensed as a private pilot.
