Community event honors the life, mentorship, and musical legacy of legendary producer Joseph “Amp” Fiddler
Camp Amp will officially launch its upcoming workshop series with a special “Amp Fiddler Day” Celebration on Saturday, May 16, 2026, honoring the life and enduring legacy of celebrated Detroit musician, producer, mentor, and educator Joseph “Amp” Fiddler.
Held in recognition of Detroit’s official “Amp Fiddler Day,” the event will bring together artists, creatives, students, and community members for a day centered on collaboration, education, and musical innovation — values that defined Amp Fiddler’s lifelong mission.
The celebration and workshop launch will take place at Audio Engineers of Detroit, the final location where Amp personally taught music production, music theory, and creative development to aspiring Detroit artists and students.
Titled “From Detroit to the World — The Camp Amp Legacy Lives On,” the event marks the beginning of a new chapter for Camp Amp, an initiative designed to continue Fiddler’s commitment to mentorship, hands-on learning, and creative empowerment through music.
Attendees will have the opportunity to create, collaborate, network, and learn using on-site resources and production tools. Guests are also encouraged to bring their own laptops, MPCs, instruments, and other creative equipment to participate in the workshop experience.
“This event is about preserving Amp’s spirit of community, education, and artistic freedom,” organizers said. “His impact stretched far beyond music. He believed in giving back, opening doors, and helping the next generation discover their voice.”
The event will be held from 12 p.m. to 6 p.m. and is free and open to all ages, though tickets are limited and advance registration is encouraged.
